(June 18, 2013) – Zak Grzybowski, LSIT joins WHPacific, Inc. as survey field technician. Grzybowski is a graduate of Oregon Institute of Technology. Grzybowski’s project experience includes surveying for PDX Airport, Costco, and Walmart. He will support WHPacific’s land surveyors by operating survey instruments and collecting information in the field.
“With five years of survey experience in Oregon, Zak is a valuable asset to our survey team in Portland,” said Scott Grubbs, director of survey. Grzybowski previous positions include survey technician for Terra-Calc Landing Survey, Duryea and Associates, Tru-Line Surveying, and Wilson Surveying. He also served as a CAD technician for Precision Structural Engineering. (June 17, 2013) – The American Council of Engineering Companies of New Mexico awarded WHPacific, Inc. two Honorable Mentions for the Sandia Pueblo Fire Station project and the Gallinas Diversion Rehabilitation project for the City of Las Vegas. Honorable Mention Awards are presented to selected entries of superior quality. Winners celebrated at the Annual Awards Gala on Friday, April 5, 2013 at the Sandia Resort & Casino in Albuquerque, New Mexico. “We obtained the engineering excellence awards because our projects were so interesting,” said Karen Menne-Jacobsen, project manager for the Gallinas Diversion Rehabilitation. “For example, the City of Las Vegas gets approximately 90% of its drinking water from the Gallinas River. The structure we reconstructed provides that 90% to the city.” The Engineering Excellence Awards pays tribute to New Mexico’s most prestigious projects that demonstrate the highest degree of merit and ingenuity. (June 17, 2013) – WHPacific, Inc. expands its Colorado Springs based survey team. “In response to industry demand, we are expanding our oil and pipeline services,” states WHPacific’s Colorado Springs office Survey Director, John Horne. “These strategic new hires will join our headquarters’ survey team.” WHPacific welcomes Michael Menapace as survey party chief. Menapace has over eight years’ experience in survey and mapping for the gas pipeline industry. Menapace’s previous positions include crew chief and survey crew chief at Trico Surveying and Mapping and survey crew chief at Encompass Services. His past projects include the South East Supply Header in Mississippi and the Sukken Line in North Carolina. Menapache will manage WHPacific survey crew, pipeline crew, and train instrument operators. Lee Horton joins WHPacific as survey technician. Horton has seven years’ experience as a survey technician and specializes in pipeline survey. Horton’s past positions include instrument operator, rodman, and survey technician for Trico Survey and Mapping, and LW Survey. Horton worked on the Ruby Pipeline, a 678 mile interstate natural gas pipeline which spans Wyoming, Utah, Nevada, and Oregon. Lee Horton will specialize in pipeline survey for WHPacific’s oil and gas clients. Tom Santos joins WHPacific as survey technician. Santos has over eight years’ experience in pipeline survey. Santos worked at Egan, Field, & Nowak, Inc., CenterPoint Energy, and Shafer, Kline & Warren, Inc. His previous work experience includes being a survey and field technician for Northern Natural Gas, Enbridge Pipelines, El Paso Natural Gas, TransCanada, and the Ruby Pipeline. (June 17, 2013) –WHPacific’s welcomes David Kraettli as survey manager in the company’s Colorado Springs office. Kraettli has 33 years’ licensed experience in land development, public works, corridor utilities, and GIS. Previous to WHPacific, Kraettli served as a principal and survey project manager for Xcel Energy’s Cherokee Power Plant.
“David has a reputation for building relationships and discovering projects,” said John Horne, director of survey. “He is coming in at an ideal time where business development is a focus of our Colorado Springs survey department.” Kraettli worked on Marcellus Shale midstream pipeline projects. His past project experience also includes GIS parcel conversion projects for Pueblo County, Linn County, OR, and the City of Riverside. Kraettli’s other projects include ALTA/ACSM survey for Xcel Energy’s Cherokee Power Plant, Rocky Mountain Power transmission projects, and data conversion and capture for Pueblo County. (June 17, 2013) – Kristin Brandt joins WHPacific’s Boise office as an engineer in training. She has eleven years’ experience as a scientist and engineer. Brandt obtained her master of science in civil engineering and her bachelor of science in civil engineering from Washington State University. “Kristin is an expert in mechanics-based models of structural wood-strand composites and has worked supporting product and process development and enhancement of these products,” said Wade Christiansen, Boise office director of transportation. Previous to WHPacific, Brandt spent eleven years at Weyerhaeuser. Her positions included scientist/engineer II, scientist II, scientist IV, pilot plant manager, and contract scientist. She specializes in wood composite manufacture, design, and modeling. Brandt’s skills will support the WHPacific bridge design group in Boise. (June 10, 2013) – WHPacific sponsored the Crook County Young Life Work-a-thon in Prineville, Oregon. The Young Life teens raised funds to attend the Washington Family Ranch camp in Antelope, Oregon. All 86 Young Life teens raised enough money to attend the camp. WHPacific has provided a full range of services for Young Life Oregon since 1996.
Amber Hudspeth, business development manager in Bend, attends monthly Cook County Chamber of Commerce meetings. “By participating in the chamber, I stay connected with the community,” said Hudspeth. The meetings allow Hudspeth to meet directly with the mayor and the commissioners. Community service sponsorship is opening doors for WHPacific. It was at one of these meetings that Young Life came to speak about their sponsorship opportunities. WHPacific plans on sponsoring next year’s work-a-thon. (June 4, 2013) – Jay Battleson, RLA, LEED AP, joins WHPacific’s Bend office as the newest member of the firm’s Landscape Architectural Studio to continue to provide WHPacific’s exceptional landscape architectural services throughout the Northwest and to its other regions. After practicing for eight years throughout the United States and Canada, he returns home to Bend with award-winning experience in designing, planning and project management on a diverse range of project types from single family residences to large scale master plans. Jay’s expertise covers planting design, urban design, sustainable design, LEED documentation, master planning, construction administration, agency approvals, and project management.

(May 31, 2013) –WHPacific’s Colorado Springs office announces Linda Robinson as Payroll Manager. Robinson has sixteen years’ experience in human resources, including nine years of supervisory experience. She obtained her Certificate in Human Resource Management from the University of Phoenix.
“Payroll is Linda’s passion,” said Marc McGarity, chief financial officer. “Linda’s expertise matches such passion. She previously led two ADP integrations from PCPW to web-based payroll.” Robinson will be responsible for overall payroll administration and payroll processing for WHPacific nationwide. Prior to WHPacific, Robinson was a payroll and benefits administrator at Velcon Filters. She was also a payroll and benefits administrator, a human resources manager, and a private business manager at People’s National Bank. (May 30, 2013) – To meet growth demands, WHPacific has hired its initial team of employees for their San Diego office. The team will be focusing on utility industry opportunities in California. “WHPacific is expanding, “said Hal Keever, chief operating officer. “We are doing so in response to our California clients’ needs and will be hiring more qualified survey professionals in the coming months.” James (Mike) Hart joins WHPacific as project manager in the company’s new San Diego office. Hart’s expertise is in the utility, electric transmission and pipeline industries. His previous roles include office unit manager and project manager. Hart is licensed to practice land surveying in nine states, including California. His 500kV transmission project portfolio includes Mona to Oquirrh in Salt Lake Counties, Limber to Terminal in Salt Lake counties, and Sunrise Powerlink in San Diego Counties. WHPacific welcomes David (Dave) Schilke as staff surveyor and senior CAD technician in the company’s San Diego office. Schilke brings over 10 years of experience to the role. Schilke’s previous positions include office surveyor and senior CAD Technician at Towill, Inc.; survey mapping technician at Project Design Consultants; and field surveyor and CAD drafter at Associated Surveying Group. Kristi Kalapp Stoddart joins WHPacific as a survey CAD technician and project specialist. Previous to WHPacific, Stoddart was a project coordinator and CAAD technician at Towill, Inc. She was responsible for monthly invoicing, accounting, and documentation for $6 million of San Diego Gas & Electric contracts and building 3-dimensional PLS-CADD and CADD models.
