Native American Ownership

Over the last 40 years, WHPacific, Inc. has grown to become the largest 100% Native American-owned engineering and architectural firm in the United States. Our phenomenal growth has resulted from consistently providing our clients with a broad range of high-quality engineering, architecture, surveying, and planning services. We perform projects nationwide, have over 400 people on staff, and our annual revenue is currently about $90 million. We have 17 offices strategically located in eight western states with our headquarters in Anchorage, Alaska.

WHPacific is a minority owned and operated business as certified by the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC). We are wholly owned by NANA Development Corporation, which is the business arm of NANA Regional Corporation, Inc. (NANA) (www.nana.com) in Kotzebue, Alaska. NANA is a private for-profit corporation representing the interests of more than 12,000 Iñupiat shareholders who are descendants of the first people to populate northwest Alaska over 10,000 years ago. NANA is one of 12 land-based Alaska Native Corporations created under the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act of 1971.

Even though WHPacific is a large business, our Alaska Native Corporation ownership status allows federal prime contractors (under FAR Section 19.703) to count subcontracts to WHPacific as Small Business (SB) and Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB) under their subcontracting plans. Ultimately, prime contractors get a robust, well-qualified subcontractor and SB/SDB credit at the same time. We have prepared a fact sheet about the recent FAR changes which provides more detail.

WHPacific is proud of our Native American heritage and our ongoing relationships with our many Native American clients. Please contact us if you have any questions about WHPacific’s minority status.
